Hello everyone, Happy Thursday! I have something to share with you today I'm so excited about. My kids LOOOOOVE them and so do I!!It's so important to me that I can make fun, healthy snacks my munchkins enjoy! I got this recipe elsewhere, but have made some improved changes to it.
Chia seed energy bites:
1 cup of plain oats
1/2 of a 1/4 (1/8) cup of pure raw local honey
1/4 cup of all natural peanut butter
2 full Tbs of chia seeds
1/4 tsp of vanilla
Combine ingredients and stick in the refrigerator for about 20 min to harden a bit. Then roll into balls to enjoy.
Additional optional add ins:
Making tacos for the family? Use lean ground turkey or lean grass fed beef. Mix in the tomatoes and black beans (and onions if you'd like) before you add anything else to your tacos. This was dinner last night in the Johnson house!
You can use whole wheat wraps or just dump in a bowl with some shredded cheese and salsa! Voila!! Dinner is served.
We are reminded each year that we are "supposed" to make a resolution, right? Who sets out to do just that and then the thought and energy behind it just kind of fizzle away?
Who's an all or nothing kinda person? Who likes to take the bull by the horns and get the job done.... except for when something gets in the way. That's just called life some days. We set our resolutions January 1st, hit the gym, and by March 1st we are done. Sound familiar?
Some days we have two sick kids. Some months we have sick family members that we are visiting in the hospital daily. Since the end of the year is coming up, this may mean a deadline at work which keeps you there later in the evenings. You may have just had guests leave and have an entire house to clean. Maybe you are constantly caring for a neighbor. When you are stressed out your back tightens up and you don't feel like working out anyway. Any of these sound familiar? This is called LIFE.
Those that achieve Fitness and Nutrition in the end are the ones who SHOW UP every day! It's not about doing it perfectly. It's not about getting in your two hour workout every day and having your rock hard six pack. It's about life and making it work with what you have. Commit to the process of bettering yourself. Run the steps 10 minutes, dance around like crazy in your living room, take a break from your visit in the hospital and walk the halls. Just in the short time I've started this wellness business, I can see the light come into the eyes of those who know they are making a difference for themselves and feel it from the inside out. It energizes me to get people excited about their well being! It's not about what size you are, it's about how you feel and and how you treat your body(through nutrients and exercise). It's your temple. It's deserves royal treatment!
If you wanna GO up, you gotta SHOW up!!
I'm really not much of a writer, but decided to give it a shot since clearly I have a lot to say. Now, where do I begin... aah yes, it started many months ago when I was having a conversation with my husband about what I would do once I started back to work. We were planning on sometime in the next few years. Out of nowhere he states, "Why don't you just put together everything you love in life and are passionate about." I think that's about all it took to get me started on this venture. That was the summer of 2014. As you can see, I pretty much jumped on the idea and started working on it immediately. I am loving starting up this business because looking ahead I can already see how many families can be affected. The thought of making one child feel confident and comfortable about who they are in their current world of shame and self hatred, or helping a mother feel capable, encouraged and motivated in a time of utter despair feels incredible! Helping men and women, young and old, realize that health and wellness comes in all shapes and sizes is vital. That's where I come in. I'm getting excited about the endless possibilities of helping families envision their own wellness. There's a unique story behind each of you which gives us our starting ground. Each will have a different need from me, and it's my job to figure out how to make it work best for you.
